PERA Board members have selected Wayne Propst as the new executive director for the Public Employees Retirement Association of New Mexico (PERA) effective May 14, 2012.
Propst, 46, is currently the executive director for the New Mexico Retiree Health Care Authority and previously worked as a principal analyst for the New Mexico Legislative Finance Committee.

Significant and meaningful changes are needed to the PERA retirement plans for funding promised retirement benefits for the future. As the Board works with its actuaries, Cavanaugh Macdonald Consulting, the realization of the urgency for these plan changes is not an option, but more so, necessary reform for the benefit of all its membership and stakeholders. In November of 2011, the Board adopted a goal of developing a plan of achieving 100% funding by the year 2041. The results of the most recent study by Cavanaugh Macdonald Consulting gives testimony to the fact that if we all share in the burden, active members, future members, retirees and employers, PERA's goal is not far-fetched, but rather a reasonable and obtainable goal. PERA will mail 1099R form to retirees, co-payees, beneficiaries, and refund recipients no later than January 31, 2012. Please allow ten (10) mailing days from this date prior to reporting your 1099R Form as lost or stolen. PERA will be unable to issue duplicate 1099R information until February 10, 2012. Retirees who have created or are able to create a RIO Self-Service account have access to 1099R forms for up to the past three (3) years beginning with 2011 as of January 26, 2011. Retirees can access or create a RIO Self-Service account by clicking the green button on the left hand side of this page. A guide for retirees using RIO Self-Service can be found here. Please note that co-payees, beneficiaries, and refund recipients will not be able to download 1099R information from our website.
